Adding TBN to your Twitter profile

At the TBN Partners Day 2012 we heard from Harrison & Stuart about some quick wins that Members and Partners of TBN can do to increase the effectiveness and impact of their social media profiles. Updating your LinkedIn profile is one of them. Below you’ll find out how to add TBN to your LinkedIn profile, meaning everyone who views your profile also gets to find out about TBN and what you are doing to give the poor a hand up out of poverty.

All we’re going to do is add Transformational Business Network to your experience/position section of LinkedIn – that’s the place you’d also put your day job – and add “Member” or “Partner” as the position.

You can either do this on Twitter.com or on the LinkedIn mobile app (go to app instructions ↓).

Using Twitter.com

  1. Start by going to your profile settings page at twitter.com/settings/profile
  2. Under ‘Bio’ add a short line about your involvement with TBN. For example, you could add “Member of Transformational Business Network using enterprise to tackle poverty — @TBNetwork“. Putting the @TBNetwork really helps others discover who we are.
  3. Once you’re done just click ‘Save’

And that’s it. Now, every time someone views your Twitter profile, they will be able to see that you’re involved with TBN and from there it’s only a few clicks to get to the TBN website. This is an easy, passive way to increase the visibility of the role of enterprise in the fight against poverty, and profiles your involvement in it.

If you’ve got any questions or suggestions for other things the Network can be doing with social media please get in touch.

Using the mobile app

  1. Open the Twitter app and go to the ‘Me’ tab. Click on the cog icon.
  2. From the options that appear, click on ‘Edit profile’
  3. You’ll be shown the ‘Edit profile’ page. Click on the bio box to edit it.
  4. Here you can add a short description of who you are and your involvement with TBN. For example, you could add “Member of Transformational Business Network using enterprise to tackle poverty (@TBNetwork)”. Putting the @TBNetwork really helps others discover who we are.
  5. When you’re done just click ‘Save’
