Eco-Tourism Game Reserve
Kuzuko Game Reserve is an innovative eco-tourism project in the Eastern Cape, one of South Africa’s poorest provinces. The game reserve, partnered with the South Africa National Parks (SANP), is approximately 40,000 acres in size and is in a malaria-free zone within the Addo Elephant Park. The vision of the Kuzuko Game Reserve is to provide sustainable employment for inhabitants of the local region, where unemployment amongst adults is around 70%.
Small Loans & Business Training
The MINA micro-finance organisation enables poor [primarily female] people in Mongolia to borrow to start a business to provide food, clothing, housing and education for their family by establishing a loan fund.
Community Lodge
The parish of Ruhanga is in a rural area of SW Uganda but on the main road where all traffic going to Rwanda Congo or mountain gorilla trekking pass. The proposed project – opening a Guest House and snack bar/coffee shop – was in an ideal position. The lodge runs a school along with adult business and vocational training.
Cleaning Business
Clean Consult was started by Livingstone Mukasa, who came from extreme rural poverty before moving to a Kampala slum to study and later to work. He had contact with TBN through a four day business start up course which he now delivers almost every month in his own time. His desire to increase capacity to offer better services and sustain business on a growth path led him to seek investment from TBN members.
Contract Catering Programme
Women who are survivors of human rights abuse face challenges in finding employment and becoming financially independent. The hospitality industry in Cambodia offers a diverse range of career opportunities within a profitable sector. Hagar enables survivors to become financially independent, skilled and contributing members of society again.
Microfinance Programme
Post-war of July/August 2006; many local small businesses (micro-enterprises) were badly affected by the US$ billions of infrastructural damage the south of the country suffered. MRDS-Lebanon, an NGO providing an integrated microfinance (MF) programme, offers both micro/small-loans as well as business-training.
