Katwe training update
Mike Clargo brought us an amazing update from the business training programs in Kampala. 252 people completed the training course, 25% of which started a new business, 51% say they can run their existing business better, and the amount of jobs being sustained by these entrepreneurs’ businesses increased by 54%.

Project update: Food Development Company
The Food Development company has signed a partnership agreement with a UK food & drinks manufacturer to supply produce and now has five year rolling supply contracts to produce at least 152,000 litres of raw elder flower juice per year, is building new facilities, and is moving into new markets. They are showing strong economic, social and environmental impact in the area. They have so far raised £360,000 from twelve investors in a combination of debt and equity and are now seeking to raise a further £150,000 to complete the construction work, to purchase further process equipment and vehicles and to recruit more staff.

Project update: Trihealth Community Healthcare Management
TBN Partner Martin Morse is looking for investors to take the exciting REACH rural health care pilot project to the next stage. REACH sustainably delivers healthcare to poor rural communities in India. On the back of the successful pilot programme, Martin and his team want to create an innovative model of healthcare financing and delivery for low-income families, addressing a major gap in the health market and the model is capable of replication in a range of regional settings. The project is currently at the design and preparation stage, and Martin is seeking initial seed funding of approx. £70k to support the design and development of the critical project components, such as clinical protocol development, preventative & wellness programmes, and IT platform structure design.

Innovative ‘solar bottles’
An amazingly innovative idea tuns waste plastic bottles into solar-powered lights, embedded into roofs and providing safe, non-electrical (useful for tightly packed housing and flaky electricity provision) light for free.
