New Resource Opportunity
TBN member, Mike Tyler, uses the internet to help very poor communities overseas start group or family businesses Aid for Trade. Christian Partners are currently being helped in Pakistan, Kenya and Mozambique and Albania with over fifty projects including production of smokeless stoves, village water purification and women’s groups producing vegetables, clothing and reusable sanitary pads.
TBN members are warmly invited to introduce this free resource to their partners overseas, or to help in its development.
Aid for Trade Development plans include
- A Global Microenterprise Network already being piloted, to encourage ethical business growth and a portfolio of successful model microbusinesses is to be made available on the website for replication.
- An on-line literacy and numeracy programme is being assessed to help reduce barriers to socio economic development
- Expand a ‘Business in a Box’ supply of affordable essential goods into very poor communities (BOP market development opportunity) which has been successfully trialled in Mozambique.
- Further refine and trial appropriate on-line enterprise training and ethical management programmes which have been initiated
If you could spare a couple of hours or more per week, as a project mentor or research associate, you could help sustainable poverty reduction in very poor Christian communities at anytime, anywhere, where you have internet access!
